San Sigüenza is a painter living and working in New York City. He was born in 1981 in Cuenca, Ecuador. At the age of 6 he immigrated to New York and by 18 he was living in New Yorks City's East Village in an old tenement boarding house on St. Marks Place. Throughout the next several years he met an amazing cast of nonconformists that would inspire him for years to come, artists, poets, cabaret dancers, eccentric old ladies, flamboyant transsexuals, theatrical drag-queens, compassionate prostitutes and other colorful creatures of the night. Most of his work is a look and commentary into that world and the beauty that others may not see in it. In 2004 he completed his B.F.A. in painting at The School Of Visual Arts (SVA) and has attended the Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT) for the last 10 years constantly pursuing his love for fashion and design. His medium of choice is watercolor a soft medium where technique and control are key.
